Duration: Temp role for 3 months but could turn into permanent job
Job Description:
Primary Purpose
Under general direction, this role is responsible for leading events and programs related to all employee training, bid transfer training and job certification, as well as a key player in employee retention and employee engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures all employees and labor pool associates are trained per the training matrix;
Maintains training documentation and tracking for all employees using an electronic database;
Monitors and reports training progress;
Follow ups with trainees to ensure they complete all training in timely and accurate manner;
Regularly investigates training requirements to suggest and take action on implementing changes to the training program;
Prepares and maintains training materials, including electronic training documents for both hourly and salaried employees;
Researches internal and external training and development opportunities for salaried team members, makes recommendations for training including scheduling and budgeting, and facilitates and tracks training for all salaried team members;
Assembles and issues training material;
Creates, communicates and updates training/orientation schedules and documentation;
Performs/instructs classroom training and practical/on the job training for new hires, bidders or transfers to a department/new job;
Performs/instructs classroom training and practical/on the job training when safety, quality or performance corrective action is needed, or when changes in methods or equipment require new training or re-training;
Helps identify and drives development of on the job trainers for all job positions across all shifts
Assists in writing work instructions for new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment;
Collects and provides feedback to supervisors on training progress of new hires/bidders/transfers as needed;
Coordinates and facilitates new hire orientation, assists new salaried staff with onboarding activities
Follows up with shift supervisors and managers on reviews for employees including 30, 60 and 90 day reviews, and annual reviews as a key part of employee retention
Works closely with the recruiter to ensure consistent pipeline of strong candidates and to assist in the onboarding process;
Coordinate and facilitate employee engagement events and programs to help improve employee retention
Computer programs and software commonly used include, but are not limited to: Workday, HireRight, MS Word, Excel, Access, PPT, Publisher; and Visio.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, communication, technical writing or other related field required;
Three years' experience working in a training and/or development role, preferably in a manufacturing environment required;
Able to work a flexible schedule and overtime across all shifts (including weekends) when necessary;
Able to work on the production floor for extended periods of time;
Demonstrated knowledge of equipment, work practices and processes;
Able to demonstrate proper training techniques;
Able to manage both day to day tasks, unplanned responsibilities and project assignments;
Acts with integrity and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information;
Able to use logic and problem-solving tools to develop plans, understand issues and take calculated risks to proactively address current and future business needs;
Must be able to work independently and in teams large or small;
Demonstrated ability to be both action oriented and results driven;
Demonstrated strength in project management;
Demonstrated aptitude and familiarity with various software and information systems;
Able to interface with all levels of the organization;
Adapts communication styles in response to varying situations, groups and cultures;
Proficient in creating reports and presentations for senior leadership;
Successfully builds professional relationships across teams;
Demonstrated leadership skills;
Acts through influence, not authority
