Cost Accounting Support
Location: Ripon WI
Duration: 3 months
The Cost Accountant is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and analyzing cost information leading to accurate costing in accordance with established company policies, procedures, and GAAP. Key responsibilities for this role include maintaining and operating the standard product cost and variance reporting processes and systems.
Applies standards to actual production to determine performance. Prepares and issues complete, timely and accurate daily and monthly production and performance reports to appropriate production management.
Conducts financial analysis of results & variance explanation for areas of responsibility with focus on labor and overhead cost pools.
Develops and implements cost accounting improvements to enhance production efficiency.
Communicates with production management to ensure that reporting procedures and practices are accurate, consistent and timely and makes appropriate changes as needed.
Performs journal entries for a variety of accounts.
Provides support for the annual physical inventory and annual standard cost roll up for North American Operations.
Assists the Manufacturing Controller with system analysis and enhancements as well as other special projects.
Partners with Engineering to analyze changes in product design, raw materials or labor content to determine effects on product cost.
Continuously works towards the improvement and development of efficient accounting processes and systems.
Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field preferred. A combination of equivalent experience and education will also be considered.
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Understanding and ability to apply GAAP.
SAP experience strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of Excel and other database query applications.
Work effectively and contribute in a team environment, as well as independently.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Ability to analyze data and make recommendations.
