Remote to start (Seattle, WA)

Responsibilities:

• The Medical Documentation Specialist in this position is a key figure in both the identification and annotation of pertinent information within medical documents.
• The Documentation Specialist will utilize prior healthcare knowledge and healthcare terminology, medical coding experience, along with the annotation guidelines of the team.
• This position involves utilizing a web-based annotation tool and basic Microsoft Office tools.
• Training will be provided.
• This is a full time position with potential for working remotely after demonstrating adequate skill and performance level with coming into the office two or three days (max) a week.

Requirements:

• Experience and certified in at least one of these medical coding areas: ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS, CPT.
• 2-3+ years of experience
• Basic computer skills including working with a mouse, Microsoft Office Products (excel and word) and office email
• AHIMA, AAPCA - organizations that give out the certifications
• Review and adhere to internal guidelines created for annotation
• Communicate with team and provide feedback on the annotation guidelines
• Effectively and efficiently, identify key concepts and terms within medical charts
• Work with others in similar roles to resolve any discrepancies within the group
• Review reports and spreadsheets to correct, adjust, or support annotation decision
• Understanding of electronic medical records, including but not limited to reading medical charts, lab reports, procedure notes... Understanding of vast medical abbreviation

Preferred skills:

• Experience and certified in at least one of these medical coding areas: ICD-10 CM, ICD-10 PCS, CPT.
• Knowledge of different medical Ontologies and Terminologies (examples: SNOMED, RxNorm, LOINC...)
• Knowledge of Machine Learning in Medicine
