Business Development Manager
Contract Duration: 12+ Months with an opportunity for extension
Travel: may require local travel
We are seeking Business Development Managers to assist with the entire pre-selling process: initial target to adoption. Open P-TECH is entirely free for organizational clients to use, and our clients are primarily high schools, community colleges, and non-profits focused on STEM and career exposure. The business development managers will be responsible for building out a robust client pipeline, building individual client interest in using Open P-TECH, and helping understand how to adopt the platform at scale for their end users of students and teachers. The business development managers will be responsible for managing the prospect pipeline, demoing and initial training, and listening for client needs during the pre-adoption cycle.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Being on the front end of the pre-adoption client engagement cycle:
o Identifying potential K-12 public school districts, charter school networks, educator networks, and direct service educational non-profits who might be interested in adopting Open P-TECH for their students and teachers
o Developing and managing relationships with key contacts at each of the prospects to educate them on how Open P-TECH can help them scale their career readiness and planning initiatives
o Demo the platform and tailoring the pitch to meet the needs of each potential client
o Listening for client need and problem solving within the Open P-TECH team to ensure seamless adoption for organizational clients
Listening for organizational needs and analyze trends in the marketplace that can inform Open P-TECH product roadmap to be more client centric
Developing implementation guidance for Open P-TECH team to address any roadblocks that may exist to Open P-TECH adoption amongst key client constituencies
Individuals interested in corporate social responsibility (CSR), education sector sales, entrepreneurship, and digital ecosystem development are strongly encouraged to apply. Knowledge of the P-TECH model and/or Your Learning is a plus. Candidates are also encouraged to have an interest in and experience with the full platform user journey, from initial awareness to adoption, as Business Development Managers may be asked to contribute to tasks that impact our Digital Marketing and Content workstreams as well.
Skills and Competencies needed:
Experience with digital ( online) learning platforms and digital badges
Communication and Public Speaking skills (verbal and written)
Comfort with remote working and digital solutions (Trello, Webex, Zenhub, Mural)
Pre-sales or product management and demonstration skills
Familiarity with gamification principles
Organizational skills; Time management
Professionalism; Structured thinking; Solution-focused mindset
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
Enough comfort with digital learning technologies to understand how to differentiate Open P-TECH from other online learning platforms when meeting with potential clients
Relationship with educational organizations:
General understanding of educational organizations (Global & US)
Understanding of how Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Content Management Systems (CMS) are used by educational organizations
Adaptability to different environments and cultures
Adept at listening for client needs and solutioning to meet those needs
3-5 years of business development and/or sales experience
Familiarity with single sign-on protocols (SAML, SFTP, OS2, etc.)
Fluency in French, Portuguese, or Spanish
