Experis is seeking an Assistant Director of Systems Engineering and Maintenance with experience with waste water management. This is a permanent position with a local government agency based in the Raleigh/Durham area.
The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for long-range planning and direction for the clients linear assets and oversight of the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) for water and wastewater facilities as well as the water distribution and sewer collection systems. This group includes Utility Engineering, Cross Connection Control, and Water & Sewer Maintenance which in addition to managing the Automated Meter Reading (AMR) program and installation of new services, provides rehabilitation and repair to over 1200 miles of waterlines and over 1100 miles of sewer lines. A strong focus is placed on the Capacity, Management, Operations and Maintenance (CMOM) Program & development with an ability to leverage new technologies to improve service levels.
The successful candidate will have industry knowledge and the ability to articulate a clear vision for the engineering, cross connection, and systems maintenance divisions. You will be responsible for preparation of the annual operating and capital improvements budgets, and will lead the expansion and rehabilitation efforts for improved methods and best practices. This role interacts with senior management and the public regarding budget issues, facility/system performance, and may serve as media spokesperson as delegated.
Bachelor's Degree in engineering: mechanical, industrial, civil, electrical, construction, or environmental. Other majors such as water resources planning/management or public administration are applicable
Minimum 9 years experience leading operations & maintenance for collection/distribution systems. Experience dealing with wastewater operations are also applicable
Must have one or more* of the following: NC Professional Engineers License (PE); Grade IV Wastewater Collections, Grade A Water Distribution, Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator, and/or Grade A Surface Water Treatment Facility Operator certification
Cross Connection Control certification preferred
Experienced user of computerized maintenance management systems(CMMS): analysis, reporting, & preventative maintenance along with advanced predictive maintenance tools
Ability to assess maintenance and recovery systems in the aftermath of adverse weather or disaster events
Excellent interpersonal skills to lead others, be a change-agent, and to improve performance output
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
