College degree, Associates / Bachelors (life sciences related field)
Applicable training from technical college or experience commensurate with job description
Certified Veterinary Technician preferred
1-3 years veterinary experience
A general knowledge and understanding of veterinary medicine is expected.
Basic proficiencies in veterinary technical skillsets are necessary to provide basic care for veterinary species
Ability to calculate appropriate quantities of medications to ensure proper administration; basic surgical prep and anesthesia skills
Ability to accurately document in medical or research records as well as the ability to apply basic computer skills.
Ability to work in compliance with all applicable local, federal, and USDA regulations. Applies and maintains safety procedures.
Ability to safely lift 50 pounds, consistently stand and walk for extended periods of time, to include walking and adhering to safety rules and expectations including but not limited to: grasping, squeezing, pushing, pulling, squatting, stooping, and bending.
work schedule: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm - Willing and able to work a rotating schedule which includes some level of mandatory weekend and holiday coverage.
Good communication skills and the ability to maintain efficiency in the workplace while sustaining an effective team environment.
Attention to detail to provide excellent animal welfare.
