This is a hands-on position responsible for supporting and performing various tasks in the preparation and analysis of financial information, account reconciliations, monthly closing process and preparation of financial statements for review by the Controller. This position performs various tasks required in the accounting department in the areas of transaction processing, accounts receivable collections and customer billing issues. This position will possess a working knowledge of various duties in the department sufficient to provide a backup for accounts payable, cash receipts, collections and accounts receivable
Basic qualifications | education:
Must be able to work independently, make decisions, be highly organized, motivated, multi-task oriented, and resourceful. Proficient in accounting computer software and basic knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook. Must know the 10 key by touch and the computer keyboard by touch. The job performance of the position is measured by the following:
Essential job functions.
Prepare various journal entries under the supervision of the controller.
Manage and perform various account reconciliations. Monthly
Perform various bank reconciliations.
Prepare various tax and license filing other than income tax. Monthly/quarterly/annually
Maintain accurate fixed asset registers. Monthly
Assist and/or perform the closing of the various company books as directed by the accounting manager and/or Controller
Assist with transaction entries for various companies including Medicaid billing as requested.
Assist with collection activities as required.
Complete various daily reports as required by management.
May work in accounts payable or receivable.
Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Ability to lead work groups and special projects.
Serve as back up to Senior Accountant, Accountant II and Controller in their absence.
Ability to communicate financial information as needed to other corporate departments and BU's
Accounting department and a B.S. degree (or adequate business experience) in the area of the essential job functions are required. Ability to meet the daily/weekly deadlines of the position in a consistently accurate fashion. Manage environment in a manner that requires the ability to prioritize, be self-motivated and clearly communicate the status of issues to manager.
