At Experis we are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity with a long time partner bank in NYC. This newly created role is a senior management role, responsible for financial reporting.
In this role you will:
Be responsible for SEC and regulatory financial reporting
o Specifically, hands-on development of high-quality MD&A commentary and discussions. You will prepare selected SEC disclosures (specifically quantitative tables) and supporting materials.
Manage a small staff of 3 as a hands on leader and mentor
Be willing to participate in accounting issues and solutions, including spreadsheet and models
o You should have a deep understanding of proofs and reconcilements for delegated work products and operations.
Prepare or review proofs and reconcilements to ensure accuracy of delegated work products for compliance with internal control procedures and SOX Controls.
o Review and sign off general ledger entries prepared by direct staff for delegated work products.
o Prepare reports on an as needed basis for internal and external
o Write MD&A discussions and analysis on an as needed basis; coordinate with the Vice President of Reporting, the development and review of SEC and other reports on an as needed basis.
o Develop documentation to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley standards, and lead/undertake tests of controls for delegated work products.
o Work with external, internal auditors, the SOX team and Examiners to satisfy inquiries for delegated operations and work products.
Streamline, develop and implement plans to automate reporting and analytical needs of direct reports.
Bachelors in accounting
10 years of experience working within a controllers group
Deep understanding of SEC filing guidelines. Understanding of XBRL.
Exposure to derivatives, hedge accounting, and/or mortgage-backed securities.
Strong writing skills a must; willingness to create detailed written discussions and analysis for the quarterly SEC filings.
Excellent Excel spreadsheet skills and Microsoft Office product knowledge
Deep understanding of automated General ledger.
